The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have expanded the set
of telehealth services that are fully reimbursable. Remote follow-ups and monitoring can be
billed up to four times per month per patient.
Telehealth consultations, often just as beneficial to
patients as office visits, demand less time and expense from a doctor's practice.
In light of the pandemic, telehealth affords patients
and doctors a means to avoid nonessential travel and social interaction.
How
Does DiyaMD Play a Role?
Current telehealth
technologies — except for DiyaMD — are outdated. DiyaMD eliminates their inherent
shortcomings with capabilities unavailable elsewhere. A few examples:
Follow-ups: One survey reveals that
only 35% of telehealth patients received a follow-up. DiyaMD automatically
generates follow-up alerts as commanded — e.g., "in three days," or "in seven days," or "in
thirty days." It also can schedule follow-ups based on other factors — e.g., a patient's
disease, medicines, age, etc. — a helpful feature when treating the chronically or seriously
ill. In this way, no opportunity for reimbursable service is missed.
Vital signs,
medicines: No office visit is required when DiyaMD is used to view a patient's
latest vital signs and current medicines. Doctors know that obtaining vital signs over a
video call is difficult and time consuming. Worse yet, the readings often are
unreliable.
Efficiency and
high throughput: The doctor can call the patient when necessary, by voice only
or voice/video, right from the DiyaMD software, where it is tracked as a billable
service.
Trendlines: DiyaMD makes
these always available to the doctor. When reviewed, even by phone, the review
activity is tracked as a billable service.
DiyaMD and its complementary
patient-facing software, myDiya, comprise a novel platform that focuses on high
efficiency, high throughput, and billable patient-care services. It has unique
capabilities for doctors, patients, and caregivers. We have already written to you
about some of these, and will write to you about more.
